Road Trip - Part 2. Left for Portsmouth at 0730H. Had nice Krispy Kreme donuts that Jianli so nicely brought from London! So the journey took us slightly under an hour and we settled for a nice english brekky at the town centre. It was so quiet mann!! Wells what do you get on Sunday morning at 9 huh? =O) The girls did a little bit of shopping there.
Headed over to Charles Dicken's Birthplace after. Nothing spectacular, just a nice little cosy place, like any other homes. Apparently there's a musuem inside which stores all his writings, but that was closed for the duration of Fall and Winter. Anyways some photos! Oh yes, our trusty Ford Fiesta - the 1.4l car with a mean engine, it runs really fast!!!
Charles Dicken's Home.
We were in the middle of a housing estate! Good thing no one was around! Next on the schedule was visiting the Portsmouth Beach. Again, so beautiful! Check out the seafront!! Could spend forever there! I have this thing with the sea, kinda brings me back to my Navy days, dunno lahh! Puts me in a pensive, self-reflecting mood! And time for me to marvel at God's creations!
A lovely shot of the girls
Portsmouth Haha we were looking for some Naval-related place to visit - since Portsmouth's rich in Naval tradition. So naturally, we decided that Gunwharf Quay would be a nice place to go right? Well it turned out to be Shopping Factory Outlet! No choice lohh, just make the most of it lahh! SHOPPING!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! I shall not mention what I bought, but rest assured they were good buys (
Yeah yeah, that's what they all say! )
Because of the shopping, we had under 2.5 hours to get back to Bristol. Yanxuan and Jianli had a show to catch at night. Was honestly getting a little worried, cos' that would mean that I need to clock 110km/h flat thru' the journey! Wells got back 5 mins after time, which was not too bad, considering we were crawling for a good 20 mins on the M4. Again, I shall not mention how fast we went, but rest assured that it was under control!!
So that marked the end of the Road Trip. Was pretty much stoning for the rest of the evening, and eventually collapsed at 11pm!! =O)

The weekend was really fun!! Heh!! =O) It was definitely very very tiring, but worth all that effort. And these guys are hardcore mann, told them about the plans to start the days early, and they readily agreed! And the best part, they did! So here's how it goes, the 48-hour get-away!
We started the morning nice and early, had some muffins that Susian made and a hot cup of tea before hitting the roads at 0630H. Though evidently the rest had little sleep (quite a stark difference from the usual routine as I'm normally the one with the least amount of sleep), they made it a point to stay awake thru' the early morning drive - just in case I rammed into some tree or something.
Hit Brighton at about 1000H - It is SO beautiful! It was simply magnificient!! The seaside was breathtaking! Managed to check into our dodgy little inn, which turned out pretty fine, less the worrying company, which I'll come to later in the post. =O)
Taken at 0730H in the morning, just before heading off to PortsmouthHeaded down to the beach for lunch. It's really like the OC you know, nice houses by the sea, plenty of eateries, beautiful scenery. Couldn't quite decide what to have for lunch, and Xun is such a pig!! Everything also wanna eat! Heh! Settled down at Wetherspoons at the end - how boring! But the view was nice and the sun was out! What a change from the gloomy Bristol weather. Check out the photos!

After we were all nice and full, we took a nice slow drive down to the Flea Market to take a look. And to start things badly, some stoopid lady tried to cheat us into paying more for parking then we should. Never fool around with lawyers! =O) Wells it was really pretty. There were many shops selling antique stuff, and when they meant Flea Market, then REALLY meant Flea Market. Some of the things were probably used a milion times over, and still for sale!?!
Stopped by this shop that sold authentic fruit juices (i.e really disgusting!) Check out the name! Talk about originality huh! Yeah some artistic shots to follow! Also went into this MUSIC shop, my goodness, the rest had to pull me out! For all you music peeps, check out the full range of Musicman Basses!!!
Sejuice Me Priest?
Can't remember the names of the drinks, but mine was "Indian Monkey" - Whatever that meant!
The rarest basses in the world
New kids on the block - Jianli, Xunyu, Me, Yanxuan After spending about 2 hours at the market, we headed back to the beach to catch the sunset. So beautiful! The beach had pebbles instead of sand, so we could lie down and stare at the sky. So romantic! Yeah spoke to Wendy then, it was our 63rd month! =O)

Yanxuan and I
Thank God for making everything so beautiful
I love this photo!!! Don't you too? Taken as we laid on the pebbles And of course, in the spirit of Council, less Yanxuan, stoopid photos! But she's one of us lahh! Just for today!
From right to left: See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil, what's going on?!?
Now now, I've DEFINITELY seen this somewhere before! Right Crazy Four?! It was getting cold, and we decided to walk to Brighton Pier to check out the Theme Park there. Nothing great, just like what you see on the OC - the kick-off carnival sort of thing. Played one of those you-can-never-win-games-but-let's-try-anyhows kinda game. Come on, the prize was a monkey lahh! Oh yes, some artistic shots. What do you think?
Brighton Pier
And there was a roller coaster!! Forced Yanxuan to go for it! Haha! =O) Wanted to kill me after that! Heh!
Yes there were a few cocksters behind us! Hey this ride had a loop lahh! Not bad huh! Okay by then, we were famished! And we were DEFINITELY going for a seafood dinner! Who goes all the way down to Brighton and not eat seafood?! Not right!! So we travelled high and low, cos' the one we wanted to go to turned out to be really expensive. Well we settled for FATleos -
we now know why they're called that. The portions were huge!!! The food was yummy yummy yummy!!
Fried Calamari
The O' so yummy mussels We were intending of going to the nice jazz club outside our accomodation, but everyone was so deadbeat that we stayed in! And oh yes, if you must know, Brighton is famous for ... erm ... "Happy" people -
If you know what I mean And we had a "happy" person in our room - Yup, full fletched one. Good thing he slept early. Jianli and I were slightly worried!

Relatively Free. It's been a good start to the week. Had a pretty decent weekend, if not anything it was eating myself crazy!! Yeah went on a food hunt on Saturday. Jianli came down to Bristol to visit, so we took him to eat some of Bristol's finest. Heh! Don't know if the rest would agree with me! =O)
Got up at 1030am on Sat, having slept for 4 hours the night before, and took a nice slow walk to Primrose Cafe to have a nice hearty English Breakfast. Think I should have listened to Susian and ordered the Beef Burger instead of the conventional bacon and eggs. It's a really nice chill place, you get to see Bristol at its best. Couples having coffee together, with a sort of unspoken understanding that the time was to be spent admiring the surroundings.

Walked around Clifton Village before heading to
Bar Chocolat. AMAZING hot chocolate!! Don't believe?! I've got pictures to prove it!! It's simply wonderful, shared a slice of white chocolate cheescake too!!

Clockwise from bottom left: Jianli, Yanxuan, Xunyu, myself
Caught Dead Poet's Society at Manor after, a pretty good film I must say! Was treated to a fantastic dinner by the girls! They cooked pasta (specially brought back from Italy), one with seafood in cream sauce and the other with mushrooms. And to finish it off, I had the MOST AMAZING Tiramisu!!! Pear and Susian made it!! Simply the best!
Headed down to Old Duke's after for an evening of jazz. Well not quite jazz that night, more like folk music. But nevertheless, it was enjoyable!

OLD DUKE

Thanks to Jianli for taking the photo!! =O)
Anyways this week's pretty light, finished most of my work. Rehearsals are a bit more relaxed for me as well. Did some cooking tonight. Caught the OC and Desperate Housewives. Played some guitar, did more editing. It's going good!! =O)
Sorry if this whole thing sounds like a food review!! But you know how hopeless I become when food is concerned! Heh!

Relaxed Week. This week has been pretty good so far I must say. =) Had quite a good start to the week, managed to go to the gym, do an early swim and play badminton. Nothing to complain about! EXCEPT for the fact that I broke both my badminton rackets. Yeah was getting too engrossed in the game, started whacking harder than I should, and there! Strings on both rackets snapped! And the worst part, I can't repair them. Apparently the nearest place is Cribbs. Too far away. Sigh.
On a lighter note, Joel came over last night for a jam. He's trying to get some demo songs out. So we brainstormed together to come up with something intellegent for the pubs he's aiming for. We ended up jamming to "Come on, come on over" by Jaco Pastorius and our very own original piece "Hopeless Opus" which ends of to the tune of Moonlight Sonata - ALL on the bass guitar. It's simply amazing! Buzz me if you wanna have a hear at it! =)

Joel -
THE bassist
Wells, next week's not gonna be so pleasant. I've got 2 presentations to prepare for. One on Crime, Justice and Society, on the topic of "Legalising Prostitution" and another on Jurisprudence - Hart's book "The Concept of Law". Sounds interesting huh? VERY.

I Love Weekends. I really really love the weekends! I managed to lie in bed till 11 this morning. Told myself last night no alarm clock for today. Think I've been waking up a tad bit too early during the week. So thought I'll treat myself to a well-deserved sleep today. Don't have much on for the rest of today, just a dinner to attend this evening. So it's cool, can spend the rest of the day at home cleaning my room, spending some time with God, updating my blog and planning the week ahead!
Spoke to Angie earlier this morning! Good to hear from her again! Find a job okay? =O) If not you'll have to treat me!!! HAhAhaHA! Had a quick lunch with Josh just now, very very nice curry that Jon's mummy cooked for the house!! Yummy!! Anyways since we're on the topic of food, thought I'll just introduce some of the tidbits that I've been munching on. Go buy them!! SUPER SUPER GOOD!! Winter's coming, it's time to stock up!

These muesli bars are really important! Great for a quick breakfast! My personal favourite is the COCO Pops one!

My favourite cereal! Just add in some milk and there you go!
Recommended: Have a coffee and a banana to go with it! It'll keep you nice and full for the rest of the day!
For all those out there who like to pig out. This is the MOST healthy but yet TASTY cookies! Seriously, you can finish them by the pack! =O)
Yeah went on a massive shopping spree to stock up. But I think it's all worth it! My secret stash of food for the hungry soul at night.
------
As promised earlier, I've taken some photos of the common areas in the house. Hopefully it'll give you a better idea of what a Bachelors' Pad should be like! And yes, contrary to popular belief, guys ARE neater than girls! =O)

Yeah that's where all the cooking's done! It's a little small for the 5 of us, but it's fine. It's pretty well maintained huh?! Thanks to Josh, who religiously cleans the kitchen every morning!
Living Room
The music station. Docking stations for the iPods, CD player and speakers to give the room some oooomph for a nice chill evening.

Where the destruction takes place. Cooking for the house is like cooking for 7 guys. We term it "industrial" cooking.

Our TV area. A 28-inch TV with a DVD recordable player. Game Cube and 4 controllers for the gamers.

Our prized possession. After the collapsing of the first, this turned out to be a better arrangement. A bar, stocked with all sorts of liquor. Wine, beer, hard liquor, you name it, we have it.
( Or going to have it - still in the midst of stocking up!) The ToiletsDon't ask me why this is a separate category on its own. But yeah, another cute part of the house.

Got this really nice poster froom London. VERY appropriate for the house. We've got 2 toilets to share amongst the 5 boys. Josh, Jon and myself share one, and the Richards share the other.
Some interesting signs on the toilet doors

----
ANYWAYS added some decorations to my room. Not quite finished, so here's a photo first - of all the people I love so dearly!

Looking Back. An eventful week! Was so glad when the weekend came! Felt like I had finished exams or something! =O) But thank God for HIS strength, and for seeing me thru' the week. The weather is changing, and I find myself more reluctant to wear berms. Was at Guys and Dolls rehearsals on Thursday and Rania (the director) was shocked to see me in jeans - "Surely the weather must be changing!!" - In those exact words. Sigh.
Well last night's Halloween Party went pretty well. Decided to go support Chinese Society and Hong Kong Society since I've got many good friends in there, and it paid off!! Heh! Between the whole group of Singaporeans, we won 3 bottles! Yeah cheers to Tara for winning the top prize and Suling, with a near second! 2 bottles of Moet! And I won a bottle of tequila! Yeah top prize for the lucky draw! =O)

Miss Tara, Mr Dan, Miss Suling
Yeah so all the guys dressed up for the event. It was fun deciding what to wear, especially with the limited wardrobe that we have, but I suppose it all worked out. Can you figure out who's who?

Anyways as I got home last night, I was just browsing thru' some old photos. Really miss you guys back home!! Found this realy cute photo of Wendy and my sister! Heh! Such jokers you know! Yeah miss hanging out with you both!! REALLY REALLY REALLY!! And Beks, you're in my prayers. Continue to trust in HIS infinite wisdom.
