Shanghai Shanghai Here I Come! It's my last week in Singapore before I head off to Shanghai. Am quite excited about it. It's gonna be an interesting journey ahead - don't really know what to expect and to top it off, I'm not fantastic in my mandarin. In fact, I'm quite bad at it. I suppose that's the whole point lahh huh. Throw myself into the deep end and hopefully, I'll learn to swim. =)
The past week was pretty meaningful. Managed to meet up with friends, got some work done at Wong P, so it's been good. Went to Wine Network with Wendy on the eve of her birthday to cross midnight together. It was nice nice nice!!

We shared a cheese platter and some grilled sausages. Opened a nice bottle of red Merlot.
Had a big dinner with my council mates on 28th July. That was fantastic. I think we'll be organising another soon cos' we didn't manage to get full attendance so,
Majulah might happen again. You know what? I think some people are just out to hurt me. Take Ribena for example. She's really mean, always trying to slap me, push me around and right, she doesn't say excuse me when she needs me to move for her. I've got proof!!!

Hehe... She's actually really nice lahh. =) Always willing to meet me for lunch during work days.

Then there's Ms Ngiamngiam who likes to stangle me too. I've got a photo of her doing the same thing a few years back. Sigh. To think I'm so nice to all these people. SIGH AGAIN.

So this is a cute picture of all the future lawyers from the 27th. Hmmm we intended to act arrogant in the photo - the way lawyers are meant to be right? Cold, heartless and money-suckers. I think the boys did a pretty decent job. BUT Ribena on the other hand, couldn't pose properly.
Mr Isaac Tay threw her a peanut and she thought it was some insect that flew into her. So naturally, she freaked out and
gang gang hao th photographer got it! Quite amusing! Anyways more photos to follow!!!

So Wendy and I, together with my sis and her friend, caught Cabaret on its closing night. The musical started off pretty well, but I felt that the story wasn't very well developed and it ended quite abruptly. The supporting actors and actresses were good good good!!

Part One Portugal The journey to Portugal was certainly exhausting and very very tedious. We spent the WHOLE day traveling from Bristol to Porto. If you guys can start to imagine the nightmare to get from this to that, you'd admire the perserverance both Wendy and I had.
Of course we had to make the traditional bus ride to London which lasted 2.5 hours, after which we took another coach to Gatwick to catch our plane - Bagged in another 1.5 hours. It was about 1pm then. The flight to Lisbon was pretty quick, 4 hours for us Singapore-London-Singapore people
IS short so that was fine. The nightmare started when we touched down in Lisbon. We had to get a taxi from the airport into the city centre where we would
try to catch a train into Porto. Well, we had to, since our accommodation was booked for Porto.
One of Lisbon's main train station - Santa ApoloniaWe got to the train station with about 15 mins to spare and thought well, what else could go wrong right? 15 mins more, just buy tickets and hop onto the train. We were unfortunate, and we had a lady at the counter who couldn't speak English. Wendy tried to get the tickets from the instant machines whilst I tried to
do something you know, wave my hand, do some sign language, whatever it is!
5 mins from where we stayed We got our tickets in the end and began our 4 hour journey into Porto. To cut the long story short, we got into the hotel at about 10pm. Decided that we were famished and went straight to get a bite. You see right, Wendy and I love McDonalds. So we make it a point to visit the different ones around the world and I must say that this is the most beautiful one I've seen. Check this out.
Mac's Imperial. They served olive oil in a nice cute bottle and they sold BEER!! Much needed after a day on the road.______
Onto something more current, my internship with Wong Partnership ends this week. It's been okay, wished I could be more active but I suppose it's hard cos' as an intern, I can't really contribute much. But anyways, it's always good to have a feel of the office environment to help make a better decision as to which firm to sell your soul to. SIGH.
Great news from Shanghai, our accommodation has been settled!! And well within our budget!! Really looking forward to living it out in China, gaining some overseas experience AND brushing up my Mandarin. Good thing I have Xun and Suz with me, so they will help me get through. =)

20th July 2006. It's a very special day for me. My daddy's getting a year wiser and it also means another fantastic year with Wendy. =O) Thank God for both of them!!
Heavenly Father, may Your light continue to shine upon them both as they seek You with all their hearts.Wendy and I went to our favourate Nasi Bryani stall at 6th Avenue. Since it's a special occasion, we both ordered an extra fried chicken each. That's insane lahh!! I stuffed myself senseless!!

Before the damage.
The first week at Wong Partnership is almost done and it's been fine lahh. Can't expect much from an internship since the lawyers are very busy and often have no time to entertain us interns. Doesn't help that we aren't exactly all that qualified to help and/or give professional advice. At least things are picking up, got my first real case today!! So that's good news!!
Attended a very good concert about a week back! Johann Strauss is fantastic! It was also the first time I saw Lan Shui in action. The closing piece was the famous "Beautiful Blue Danube". It's really different when it is played by a full orchestra as
supposed to the piano piece you do when you're like in Grade 4. The orchestra gives it that added depth.

Attending the concert brought me back to the good old MEP days where we HAD to watch the classical concerts so that we could give a professional critique of the performance. Honestly it was hard then lahh, especially since I was in lalaland most of the time. But now, I am so keen to catch another – SIGH. The irony of life.
Been trying to get some exercise done. It's just so tough back in Singapore. Dunno why lehh!! Managed to squeeze in a few games of tennis and badminton. Will try to hit the gym again. If any of you guys wanna gym, let me know, we can go together okay?
Anyways a random photo taken during the world cup fever. Thanks to Ms Ngiamngiam for taking the shot!!

Mid July Update. I'm so thankful that both the World Cup and Gray's Anatomy are over!! Life can finally be normal once again!! YAY!! Really hope to get in touch with my music once again. Got a nice new microphone from Shure for my birthday - thanks to the councillors!! Oh yes, and a new guitar multi effects pedal to fiddle around with. =O) Time to make music!
I might have told some of you but I'm keen to do a triathlon this time next year. Not aiming to hit some suberb timing but hoping to complete it under a decent one. Getting some help from Debs to improve my front crawl strokes and settle into a comfortable routine. Just one of those things I wanna do whilst my body AND mind are willing!
Work with Wong Partnership starts next week. That means early mornings and one hour lunch breaks. Hmmm better start getting to bed earlier. It should be fun lahh, always like it in the litigation department.
So it's a big day for the 27th on 28th July. Homecoming 2006 - A celebration on the return of those who completed their overseas education. Just a brief four years ago we had Bon Voyage 2002. How quicky time flies. To those studying (including myself), hang in there!! Talk to those working, it ain't pleasant.
I'm currently re-watching Ray Charles in concert. Fantastic! Come get the DVD from me if you're interested. =O)

Good Old KAP Days. I'm at KAP now with Wendy - she's got an exam in a couple of hours time! It sure does bring back many many fond memories. When I was a small boy of 14 years, I remembered coming to KAP
religiously to say HI to my female counterparts from MGS. Admittedly, I went thru that girl crazy phase and it was absolutely crucial that I "studied" there.
The favourite studying spot Strange how things change when we grow up. My sister spent Youth Day at KAP
studying and my granddad and I smiled to ourselves. Oh yes,
studying. Having said that, Wendy is really studying now. I sit by her as she forces multitudes of medical terms in for her pending paper. We've been here since 730am this morning, had our nice traditional Macs brekky - Hot Pancakes for the lady and Sausage McMuffiin with Egg for myslelf. O' so yummy!!

Ms Ngiamngiam in action ------

The past few days were spent with my council friends. ALWAYS such a joy to be with them!! Went for drinks the night before, met up with Ribena and Shifu for lunch and then badminton with Wee and Zibin after. Ended the night with supper at Chomp Chomp. =) What more can I ask for??
So I've been watching Gray's Anatomy. It's not bad lahh. For all that's been said about how it's a typical medical drama-rama sort of thing, it's pretty entertaining!! Anyways I promised Wendy I'd watch Gray's Anatomy and Full House with her, and even OC 3 if we have time. That's a lot of TV to watch!!

Love, Me. To all my loved ones who showed me care
Who accepted me for my imperfections
I truly and deeply appreciate all you've done
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
